Monday Musings

I can't believe I haven't posted in nearly a week. Where oh where does the time go? I've been rather pensive today. Today I am.....

Sad .... about the sudden death of an acquaintance. I haven't seen Dawn in several years although we live in the same town. Apparently she has been ill for the last year. We attended the same church many years ago and I always thought she was a really classy lady. She was a nurse and worked for my OB/GYN back when I was having babies. Her level head and wisdom helped me through some tough times. She was 63, my age. I wish I had kept in touch with her. I will miss her. Does that make sense?

Cold .... The temperature here in Upstate NY has taken a downturn. It was cold and windy today and I just couldn't seem to warm up. I even resorted to the heated seat in Jim's car when we went shopping this afternoon. I almost never use that luxury, but today I really needed it.

Relieved .... that my MIL's eye surgery was successful. Jim and I went to Pennsylvania last week to visit and take his mom for surgery. At nearly 94, she has lost the sight in her right eye completely. This surgery was to relieve the pressure caused by glaucoma in her left eye. When we went back for a recheck on Friday, the pressure was down from 33 to 7 and she could see well. She was delighted and most relieved.

Concerned .... about the economy. Not so much for ourselves. It's true that we have lost money in the market. That's the bad news for us. The good news for us, is that we didn't have a lot there to lose. LOL My concern is for those people who may lose their jobs. Today Circuit City filed for bankruptcy, DHL announced it was cutting 9,500 jobs. Every day, we hear of more bad economic news. I worry for my children whose livelihoods depend on a healthy economy.

Angry .... when I hear about AIG executives wining and dining at an exclusive resort while our government hands them even more bail-out money. Fire these crooks!!!

Excited .... about the prospect of going to Las Vegas to see Brian and Gretchen for Thanksgiving. I don't want to wish my life away, but can hardly wait for the next two weeks to pass.

Stumped .... about what I want to do for a Christmas Card this year. Last year's card was so clever {or so I thought} and I haven't a clue what I want to do for this year. I'd better hurry and get an idea as time's aflyin'.

Pleased .... that I have finally put my flower garden to bed for the winter. When we arrived home from Pennsylvania the other afternoon, the sun was shining and it was relatively warm. Jim and I quickly got into work clothes and headed for the yard. Jim raked leaves and I planted some mums and put all my birdbath, statues and other outdoor goodies in the garage. Now if the snow comes, my garden is ready for it.

And, I am ...

Thankful that in the midst of all the worries, fears, bumps in the road, God is in control He says He will never leave us nor forsake us, and in all my life, He never has. Today, I celebrate 11 years of life that I could not have experienced. Eleven years ago today, my heart went into ventricular fibrillation. When that happens, you have only minutes to live without intervention. Because of God's grace, I was in the emergency room of our local hospital. I had been there about five minutes. Because I was there and not on the road or in our local ambulance, I am alive today. So, please join me today in giving thanks for these past eleven wonderful years of life.

What a beautiful, beautiful post, Pam.

I'm so sad also to hear about your friend. And I'm also so concerned to hear about all of the job losses. It's very scary.

I'm also trying to think of some sort of creative Christmas card idea too. In the last several years, I've focused all of my card energies on some sort of humorous, entertaining letter to go inside the card. I've got to put my Thinking Cap on and figure out what to do this year.

But...most of all...so thankful that you are with us today. God took care of you, and He continues to today.

Have a WONDERFUL evening.

I am sorry to hear about your friend and I know what you mean about keeping in touch with people.

That's wonderful to have survived that awful experience. A miracle or rather two really. Modern medicine is another miracle we take for granted.

Have many more happy years!

Dear Pam,

I get into pensive moods, myself, especially lately. Of course it makes sense about your feelings about the woman's passing. She had touched your life at some point, in a positive ways, so you can't help but be sad over it.

Thank the Good Lord your dear MIL's eye surgery has imroved her vision. What a relief for you and Jim.

I know you can hardly wait to travel to Vegas for Thanksgiving.

And you did experience a miracle, dear Pam. I did as well three years ago when I fell and broke my hip, and always feel that God gave me another chance!

It's raining today in the woods, but my younger son is here and taking me shopping and to lunch in a bigger city, and I'm so looking forward to it.

Have a wonderful day, as you count your blessings.

Hugs,

Renie

Great list. Sean mentioned the state of the world we're bringing this new baby into. I said, "Well, yeah, things are pretty bad right now, but think about all the good, too."

The economy has me worried, but we have food in our cupboards and money in the bank{for now}. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? Why worry about it?

I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's sudden passing. It makes no difference when you saw her last....she touched your life in a profound way, so that part of her will always be with you, and you will miss her for who she was to you.
I marvel at how God takes care of us in the smallest details of our lives.I'm so glad He gave you the gift of 11 added years to your life and more to come :)

Pam I am so very sorry about your friend. Your feelings make perfect sense.

I just tell myself

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of your friend. Our prayers are with you.
I think the holiday season is always a bitter sweet time. We look forward to so much but yet remember so much as well.
Of course the preparation of the season is that of it's own being.

Have a good week.

Man! I am thankful that you lived, too. For, it has been within the last few years that I bumped into you on the MBs and then very recently found your blog. I consider you a friend and consider myself so blessed for bumping into you! So thanks and glory to Him, for sure!
