Lena Boss, 1915-2008

Thursday, December 18, was a day of grieving and rejoicing at the same time. Our dear sister in Christ, Lena, was tragically hit and killed by a truck while crossing the street here in our little town in Upstate New York.

In all my life I have never known anyone who was more in love with Jesus than Lena. When she prayed we were all transported to the throne room of the Most High.

Please pray for her husband of 71 years, Ernest, who told me on their anniversary how much they needed each other. And please also pray for the driver of the truck that struck her. This accident was not his fault, yet he is understandably devastated. He needs our prayers.

And then think of the joy in heaven this Christmas as Lena finally celebrates with her beloved Saviour and Lord.

I have been thinking about this accident non-stop. It seems so improbable on Main St!

That's such a sad loss for everyone.

How lovely to hear about Lena, her life, her husband and her faith. Thank you.

I'll pray all of them.

Oh, how very sad, Pam. But as you say, she is spending Christmas in Heaven. I will pray for her husband, who must be so alone now, and for the driver, who has to live with this tragic accident the rest of his life.

Take good care, and God bless!

That is so sad, her poor husband. I said something similar to your last line when we were missing my Grandma on the first Christmas after she died. I said, "Here we are all sad and missing her, think of the FUN she's having! She gets to celebrate Jesus' birthday WITH HIM!"

It's so bittersweet when someone we know is a Christian dies. It's tough sometimes to balance that grief with the awe of what they must be experiencing. Praying for all who love her.

My sympathies go out to you with the loss of your friend Lena. I'm sure she will be missed by all that knew her.

My prayers are with her husband and family at this time-especially difficult during the holidays for them.

I'm glad she is home now and celebrating with God.

Peace be with you,
Leslie

Oh, how sad right here at holiday time! I feel sad for her husband as he must be lost without her. But she is where she is happier now, I'm sure. I will pray for them all, especially the driver. I can't even begin to imagine the pain he must be going through. Prayers going out.....

Gosh Pam, how tragic. I am sure there is a lesson in this somewhere but it is so very hard to see. My best to Lena's husband and all who love her.
